Valerie Ceja

Valerie Ceja returned to school to further her career and pursue her passion for helping others. She enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at Milan Institute in Fresno with a clear goal of making a difference in the healthcare field.

Valerie describes her experience in Milan as great and credits the supportive staff and instructors for helping her succeed. She especially appreciated the guidance of her instructor, Mrs. Betancourt, and the support of Bernadette, the education leader, who was always willing to help.

During her time in school, Valerie faced profound personal loss, including the passing of her spouse before starting the program and her mother while she was enrolled. As a single mother, these challenges were tough, but she remained determined and completed her course without giving up.

Today, Valerie works at Adventist Health Hanford and values the hands-on clinical experience she gained during her training. Looking ahead, she plans to continue working, gaining knowledge, and eventually return to the Milan Institute as a Medical Assistant instructor.

Her advice to future students is encouraging and direct: “Don’t give up. Don’t procrastinate, ask questions, and follow your own path.”
