Valentin Medina Jr. – Barbering Graduate, Merced

Valentin Medina Jr. decided to return to school to expand his career and turn his passion into a profession. After working a regular job, he enrolled in the Barbering program at Milan Institute in Merced to gain the skills and licensing needed to move forward.

Valentin describes his experience in Milan as great, noting that he learned a lot from the instructors. Whenever he faced challenges, he wasn’t afraid to ask for help, and his instructors were always willing to support him and help him overcome obstacles.

Today, Valentin works as a barber at SkinGlow By Erica, doing what he loves every day. He enjoys his job because cutting hair is something he has always been passionate about.

Looking ahead, Valentin plans to return to Milan Institute to become dual licensed in men’s and women’s hair. His advice to current students and alumni is motivating and straightforward: “Don’t give up—finish what you start and get your license, even if you don’t plan on doing it full time.”
