Quincey Sosebee – Nail Technician Graduate, 2022

For Quincey Sosebee, choosing the Nail Technician program at Milan Institute in Reno was the first step toward turning creativity into a career. Drawn to the artistic side of the beauty industry and motivated by the dream of being her own boss, Quincey sought a path that would allow her to express herself while building long-term independence. Milan provided the hands-on training and supportive environment she needed to make that vision feel achievable.

Quincey fondly recalls her time at Milan as a positive and engaging experience. She credits much of her success to her instructor, who was not only highly knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in helping students grow. The guidance and encouragement she received made learning feel approachable, even during challenging moments. While Quincey admits she isn’t naturally a “studier,” the structured activities and hands-on exercises in her coursework helped guide her learning. They made the material easier to understand and apply.

One of the highlights of her experience was connecting with classmates. Building relationships with people who shared similar goals created a sense of community and made the journey more enjoyable. From practicing techniques to supporting one another through the program, those connections helped keep Quincey motivated and confident as she developed her skills.

Today, Quincey has come full circle and now works at the Milan Institute of Reno as a Nail Technician Instructor. Stepping into an educator role allows her to stay active in the industry she loves while giving back to future professionals who are just starting their journeys. Teaching has reinforced her passion for nails and deepened her appreciation for the beauty industry’s constant evolution.

Looking ahead, Quincey plans to remain in the industry and continue working toward financial freedom by doing what she loves. She believes success comes from dedication, adaptability, and a willingness to grow with the craft. Her advice to current and future students reflects that mindset: take on as many clients as possible, ask questions, and stay open to learning. “There are always new things to learn,” she shares, encouraging students to embrace curiosity and confidence.

Quincey’s journey is a reminder that with creativity, persistence, and the right support system, it’s possible to build a fulfilling career that blends passion with purpose.
