Gabriela Evelyn Perez – Cosmetology Graduate, Bakersfield

Gabriela Evelyn Perez decided to return to school to prove to herself that she could accomplish something meaningful and build a strong future. While working full time, she enrolled in the Cosmetology program at Milan Institute in Bakersfield and committed herself fully to the journey.

Gabriela describes her experience at Milan as a positive one, sharing that she was grateful to make friends who shared the same passion for cosmetology. She learned a variety of techniques, tips, and tricks from her instructors that helped shape her skills and confidence. One of her biggest challenges was completing major exams and handling difficult clients, but she pushed through and stayed focused on graduating.

Today, Gabriela works at JCPenney Salon in Bakersfield, where she’s excited to step into her dream career and continue learning in the industry. Looking ahead, she hopes to explore many areas of cosmetology, including cutting, coloring, barbering, waxing, makeup, and facials, with the long-term dream of becoming a celebrity hairstylist.

Her advice to future students is encouraging and heartfelt: “Don’t doubt yourself or let fear hold you back. Don’t let your dream just be a dream—because in the end, it’s worth it.”
