Introducing Async Learning — Our New Adventure Starts Now!
At Milan Institute, we’re always looking for ways to make your education work better for you. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter in how we deliver your programs — the introduction of Asynchronous (Async) Learning in select states and programs!
What Is Async Learning?
Async learning means you’ll have the flexibility to complete a portion of your coursework online, on your own schedule — without sacrificing the hands-on, in-person training that makes a Milan Institute education truly special. Think of it as the best of both worlds: the freedom of online learning combined with the real skills you build face-to-face with your instructors and classmates on campus.
This is our new adventure, and we can’t wait to take it with you.
What programs will Join Async Learning?
Beauty students in California, Texas, and New Mexico will all be moved to asynchronous learning for the theory portion of their training. Nevada beauty students will continue learning on campus for all portions of their program.
Allied Health students in medical assisting will also move to asynchronous in all states. Dental Assistant students in Nevada and Texas will join the online movement. California dental students will remain on campus only.
Manicurist & Esthetician Students in California and Texas — Here’s What’s Changing
For our Manicurist (MANI), Advanced Esthetician (CA and TX) and Esthetician (EST) students, Phase 1 of the new async model kicks off with classes starting in late April 2026.
Here’s the breakdown:
-
25 hours per week — same total program hours as before
-
16 hours per week on campus, focused on skill-building and hands-on practice
-
9 hours per week, async — completed online anytime between Sunday 12:00 AM and Saturday 11:59 PM
Day and Evening students are both included, so no matter your schedule, this new model is built around your life.
The new class, which starts on 4/27 and 4/29, will launch directly into the async schedule, so you’ll hit the ground running from day one!
Cosmetology, Advanced Cosmetology & Barber Students in California and Texas— Your Date Is April 20, 2026
Starting with the new class that starts on April 20, 2026, all Cosmetology (COS), Advanced Cosmetology (ADV COS), and Barber (BARB) students — day and evening — will begin the async hybrid model.

A TWTHF schedule (8:00–1:00 and F 8:00–12:00) is planned and will begin in August.
Testing: Always On Campus, Always Supported
One thing that will never change — your tests will always be taken on campus and proctored by Milan Institute staff. We believe in your success, and that means ensuring every assessment truly reflects the amazing skills you’re building.
Here’s how it works:
-
Testing schedules are posted in advance — no surprises, just preparation
-
Students are assigned specific testing times, so you always know when and where to show up
Allied Health Programs — Coming Soon!
For our Medical Assisting students in all states, Dental Assistant in Sparks, NV and Amarillo, Texas, and Administrative Medical Assistant students in all states, async learning is also on the horizon. Here’s what’s in store:
