Dominica Arredondo – Medical Assisting Graduate, Amarillo
Dominica Arredondo chose to return to school to create a better life for herself and her children. She enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at Milan Institute in Amarillo determined to build a stable and meaningful career in healthcare.
Dominica describes her experience at Milan as great and says she loved the teachers and the support she received throughout the program. At times, she struggled with self-doubt and felt like she wasn’t doing enough, but she reminded herself that doing her best was enough—and that mindset helped her push through.
Today, Dominica works at Amarillo Family Physician, where she continues to grow in the medical field. One of her favorite memories from school is the laughter and bonds she shared with her classmates, which made the journey even more meaningful.
Looking ahead, Dominica plans to continue her career as a Certified Medical Assistant and eventually pursue nursing. Her advice to future students is encouraging and heartfelt: “Never give up. It may be tough right now, but it will be worth it in the end. Always fight for what you want in life.”
Future Healthcare Professionals Scholarship
Available for: Allied Health programs
Eligibility: Must have a GED or high school diploma, and submit an application with an award letter.
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Apply and enroll by March 31

The Massage Therapy course can be completed in 34 weeks, or around 8 months. The total time a course takes depends on your schedule and the completion of your coursework.
Once you have finished classes, you will be ready to take your state licensing exam.
Not only will you learn Massage Therapy techniques in the classroom, but you’ll also gain real-world experience working with real clients in our on-site student spa.
The Medical Assisting program at Milan Institute provides the technical and practical skills training you need to enter the healthcare field as a Medical Assistant.
