Dora Areola-Parra – Administrative Medical Assistant Graduate, Palm Desert
Dora Areola-Parra decided to return to school to pursue a career she had always been interested in. After working for a home care agency, she enrolled in the Administrative Medical Assistant program at Milan Institute in Palm Desert to take the next step toward a stable and fulfilling career.
Dora describes her experience at Milan as a great one overall and shares that she was grateful not to face any major obstacles during the program. She appreciated the learning process and felt supported as she gained new skills and knowledge.
Today, Dora works at Valley Comprehensive Medical Group in Indio, California, where she continues learning and growing in her role. While some topics were challenging at first, she says daily practice and persistence have helped her build confidence and succeed.
Looking ahead, Dora plans to keep learning and become a strong, dependable professional in the career path she’s chosen. Her advice to future students is encouraging and practical: “Keep pushing, complete your assignments, take notes, and ask lots of questions.”
Future Healthcare Professionals Scholarship
Available for: Allied Health programs
Eligibility: Must have a GED or high school diploma, and submit an application with an award letter.
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Apply and enroll by March 31

The Massage Therapy course can be completed in 34 weeks, or around 8 months. The total time a course takes depends on your schedule and the completion of your coursework.
Once you have finished classes, you will be ready to take your state licensing exam.
