The Milan Institute Bakersfield campus welcomed more than 100 Kern County residents for a night of family fun during its annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Monday, October 27. Families from Bakersfield and nearby areas came dressed in creative costumes to enjoy candy, games, and themed trunk displays made by Milan students and staff.

Bakersfield Campus Welcomes Community
Held at Milan Institute’s downtown Bakersfield campus, the event gave the community a chance to experience the school’s welcoming atmosphere and learn more about its career-training programs. Visitors participated in demonstrations from the Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetics, and Manicuring programs. Raffle prizes, games, and interactive booths added to the excitement.
“It really was such a great event. It was so much fun seeing the community come out and enjoy all the things we do here at Milan!” said Campus Director Kristen O’Leary. “The feedback from everyone was so positive; I heard so many ‘thank you for doing this’ and ‘it’s so nice that you did this for the kids!’ That makes it all worth it. A special shout-out to our Halloween Committee for creating the amazing decorations, booths, and games that made the event so successful.”
Commitment to Kern County
This event was part of the Milan Institute Bakersfield’s commitment to Kern County. Students and instructors volunteered their time to decorate, host activities, and share information about the hands-on career programs offered at the campus.
Instructor Lynnette Garrett said the evening was full of laughter and connection. “We had such a blast at our Trunk or Treat at work! The creativity, the laughter, and all the smiling faces made it such a fun night,” she said. “And I have to give a special shoutout to my son. He was the real star of the night, keeping everyone entertained while they waited in line. Proud mom moment for sure!”

Milan Institute has been a part of the Bakersfield and Kern County community for years. It provides practical training for students pursuing careers in beauty, health, and wellness.
