Gabriela Evelyn Perez – Cosmetology Graduate, Bakersfield

Gabriela Evelyn Perez returned to school to prove to herself that she could accomplish her goals and build a strong future. While working full time, she enrolled in the Cosmetology program at Milan Institute in Bakersfield and committed to pursuing her passion.

She describes her experience at Milan as positive and rewarding, sharing that she loved connecting with classmates who shared the same passion. Gabriela learned a wide range of techniques and tips from her instructors, which helped build her confidence and skills. One of her biggest challenges was completing major exams and working with difficult clients, but she pushed through and stayed focused on graduating.

Today, Gabriela works at JCPenney Salon in Bakersfield and is excited to continue learning and growing in the beauty industry. She hopes to explore many areas of cosmetology, including cutting, coloring, barbering, waxing, makeup, and facials, with the long-term goal of becoming a celebrity hairstylist.

Her advice to future students is encouraging: “Don’t doubt yourself or let fear hold you back. Don’t let your dream stay a dream—it’s worth it.”
