Gina Rodriguez – Administrative Medical Assistant Graduate, Amarillo

Gina Rodriguez decided to return to school to better herself and create a brighter future for both herself and her family. Wanting more out of life, she enrolled in the Administrative Medical Assistant program at Milan Institute in Amarillo with determination and faith.

Gina describes her experience at Milan as overwhelmingly positive, sharing that everyone was kind, supportive, and understanding of her needs. During her time in school, she faced significant personal and health challenges, including illness and family hardships. Through prayer, perseverance, and support from the Milan team, she stayed committed and continued moving forward.

One of Gina’s favorite parts of her experience was her instructor, Mrs. Tate, whose interactive activities and hands-on learning made class engaging and enjoyable. Those experiences helped prepare Gina for the real world and boosted her confidence.

Today, Gina works at Texas Tech Physicians: Family Medicine, where she was offered a position at her externship site. Looking ahead, she hopes to eventually return to school to become a Patient Care Technician.

Her advice to students and alumni is heartfelt and inspiring: “Do not give up. I’m a 50-year-old grandma with six kids who decided to change careers midlife—if I can do it, you can do it.”
